Audio describing the animated, Streetcat Bob!
Some time ago, I had the enormous pleasure of Audio Describing the film A Street Cat named Bob, so you can imagine my absolute delight at being asked to voice the pre-school children’s version for Sky’s amazing new channel.
This charming 25-minute programme consisted of 15 ‘shorts’: Snowman, Ghost, Egg, Roundabout, Climbing Frame, Quarrel, Dark, Sleepless Night, Recycling, Carwash, Autumn leaves, Sunbathing, conker hunt, Kite and Record Player.
‘Streetcat Bob’ contained no dialogue at all, and so I had to find the perfect balance between describing the action (every episode was action packed) without causing the listener fatigue!
Also, being a pre-school programme, my use of language had to be appropriate for the age range, whilst painting an entire picture of what was going on, and the emotions of the animals as they went about their many, intricate exploits!
What a challenge! And what fun! I really loved eking out every adventure and every emotion, whilst keeping it understandable, followable and entertaining.
